EXPLORING REAL-WORLD CONCEPTS THROUGH MATH

Exploring Real-World Concepts Through Math: Every one of us has either been the person or heard someone ask, “When will I ever use this?” during a math class. For this course, students will be given a series of different math activities that show a subtle way of how math can be applied to real-world concepts like budgeting, natural disasters, health issues, discrimination, etc. Students will play games with each other and/or run through scenarios that will help them understand the concepts through math. These activities will connect how the functions they're learning or will learn in future math classes are representations to real-world data information. Students will learn about probabilities, set theory, and concepts like happiness, trust—concepts that you wouldn’t necessarily think could be represented in a mathematical expression. These activities will not only enrich students, but help them understand the various ways in which math is applied to situations they will or have experienced.

LUNCH: Students staying for full day or for both morning and afternoon sessions can bring or buy their lunch.  All students will eat lunch on Campus in The Commons, a small food court.

Digital Credentials are linked directly to a students emails and cannot be assigned to a parents email.  For your student to receive their digital credential please add your student’s email at registration.
