Registration: Registration is on a first come, first served basis. The academies accept 10-25 participants depending on the workshop, course or peogram. A separate registration profile must be completed for each participant from a household. Registration can only be completed online. A participant will be considered enrolled once we have received all the required documents and full payment. Incomplete registrations will forfeit enrollment in an course.
Payment: Full payment is due at the time of registration. Unfortunately we are unable to offer partial payment plans. All payments can be completed online. Participant’s will not be considered enrolled until full payment and all required forms are received. Enrollment is on a first come, first served basis.
Prices range from $374 to $674 depending on the length and time of the academy.
Discounts: $50 Early bird discount for signing up before March 31st, 2023. Discounts for UMBC staff, faculty, students, alumni and returning past SEA participants can be applied after the early bird discount expires.
SEA Drop-Off and Pick-Up: In front of the Performing Arts and Humanities Building (PAHB) across from Parking Lot #8 on Hilltop Road. Look for SEA directional signs to the Drop-Off and Pick-up location when you enter onto campus. Parents/Guardians should make every effort to drop off and pick up their students on time. Program assistants will be at the drop-off location every morning at 8:30AM to check in your student and students will check themselves out with their instructor at the PAHB drop-off location the conclusion of their program. Pick-up and Drop Off will be at the same location every day for all courses unless explicitly noted.

Parking: Any students driving themselves or parents that want to park and stay on campus may park in Lot 22 for free. However, name, license plate, car make, model and year need to be submitted to Bria Thorpe prior to parking or YOU WILL GET A TICKET. Parking Enforcement at UMBC is very efficient. Parking in any space or lot not located in Lot 22 will result in a ticket.
UMBC is an open campus, open to the public: Parents are welcome to sit in our open spaces, PAHB lobby, library, or Starbucks Cafe during SEA. Students who arrive early or who do not get picked up on time can wait inside the Performing Arts and Humanities Building (PAHB), but will not be supervised beyond the program’s operating hours of 8:30 to 4:30.
Accessibility: The class will walk together with an assistant or instructor to the classroom. If students need special accommodations to get to classrooms, we will make every effort to support transitions to and from class utilizing accessibility routes ramps and walkways for students.

UMBC Campus or Medical Emergencies: UMBC Campus Police and Environmental Safety and Health are ready in case of any emergency. Notification to parents and guardians will be swift.
Cancellation Policy (May 10, 2024):
- Full Refund: A full refund, minus a $50 administrative processing fee will be issued for cancellations made at least 14 days prior to the program’s start date.
- 50% Refund: Cancellations made after 14 days before the start date will receive a 50% refund.
- No Refund: No refund will be provided for cancellations made once the program’s date starts. No acceptions.
Important: All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to extendedlearning@umbc.edu prior to the deadline date.
- If payment was made with a credit card, refunds will posted back to the credit card that was used to make the purchase.
- Fees will not be refunded or prorated for any missed days due to illness, injury, or unforeseen schedule changes.
- If cancelling after 6 months of purchase: A refund back to your card cannot done and will take place though Maryland State refund check process.
- For Groups: If payment was made by check, or electronic funds, a check refund will be issued. Please note that you will be required to submit required State of Maryland paperwork to be issued the refund check. Please allow six to eight weeks for processing refunds.
Please Note: In the unfortunate event that any SEA course(s) are cancelled for any reason, the participant will receive a refund for the full amount paid for that course.
Absences or Lateness: If you know in advance that the participant will be absent or will be late, on any of the scheduled days, please inform the instructor or student assistant. Please reach out to the SEA Office at SEA@umbc.edu if you are running late or have an unplanned absence (e.g. sick).
Permission to photograph, take quotes and/or video: By registering a participant for the Summer Enrichment Academy, UMBC is authorized to take photographs, quotes and videos of participants during activities which may be used to advance the interests of the Summer Enrichment Academy or UMBC, unless the opt-out choice is selected. Each day pictures and videos will be shared on the Summer Enrichment Academy's social media.
Waiver of Liability and Hold Harmless Agreement: Parents or Guardians will be required to agree to the “Waiver of Liability and Hold Harmless Agreement” for each minor participant’s registration. Participants aged 18 and above will be required to agree to the “Waiver of Liability and Hold Harmless Agreement” for themselves.

All students who attend a Summer Enrichment Academy (SEA) course are eligible to receive a UMBC SEA Digital Microcredential—a fantastic way to showcase their achievement—and a fun "goodie bag" filled with surprises! In addition to these rewards, students will have the opportunity to connect with peers, have fun, and learn something new along the way. It’s a memorable experience that combines challenging, fun education with personal growth and lasting memories!

Each Friday, at the conclusion of the session, parents are invited to a special closing ceremony where students have the chance to showcase what they’ve learned, win exciting raffle prizes, and share their experience with their families. It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the students' hard work and achievements while creating lasting memories together!
