Solar Powered: Harnessing the Power of the Sun!: In this course students will get an introduction into the Grand Challenges program offered at UMBC and many other universities around the world. The Grand Challenges focus on some of the biggest problems our world is facing today. During the week students will complete some hands on challenges, learn about solar and other energy sources/systems, and learn what it takes to design and install a solar system.
Course Objectives:
- Students will be able to understand how solar panels harness the sun's energy in order to generate electricity.
- Students will be able to understand how to design a solar system to meet the energy needs of a house or business.
LUNCH: Students staying for full day or for both morning and afternoon sessions can bring or buy their lunch. All students will eat lunch on Campus in The Commons, a small food court.
